The tennis ace was competing in the quarter finals on Wednesday against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkovaon - which she went on to win - but the action on the centre court was overshadowed by complaints over her outfit.
BBC received some criticism over the star's revealing tight top, with many suggesting there should even have been a warning.
Surprise BBC haven't issued a warning that Serena is showing some nipple today! #Wimbledon
I wouldn't usually comment on another woman's body, but could someone give Serena Williams something to cover her nipples...very distracting— Jess C (@CordyCat3456) July 5, 2016
However, many fans have now taken to Twitter to defend the athlete, with several of them mocking the "outrage".
One tweeted: "Shock horror. Serena Williams has nipples. Outrage people, outrage."
Another added: "People are actually complaining about seeing Serena Williams' nipples through her shirt - and people still think we don't need feminism"
