Largest diamond for 100 years on display for record-breaking £50 MILLION sale

The largest diamond discovered in more than a century has gone on display in London ahead of a record-breaking £50 MILLION sale.
Lesedi la Rona, which is three billion years old, is a staggering 1,109 carats and the size of a tennis ball.
It was uncovered in Botswana last year and has been described as a “once in a lifetime discovery”.
The gem, which is only beaten in size by the diamond now found in the Crown Jewels, was on display at Sotheby’s Bond Street headquarters in London.
Sotheby’s will sell Lesedi la Rona on June 29, with the auction house expecting it to sell for a world record £50 million.
The gem was uncovered by Lucara Diamond Corp at its Karowe mine in Botswana in November.
Nothing of the size and quality of the Lesedi la Rona, which translates as ‘our light’ in the Tswana language, has been been found in more than 100 years.
In terms of its size, the ‘rough’ is exceeded only by the 3016.75-carat Cullinan Diamond, which was mined in South Africa in 1905.
The Cullinan ended up producing nine diamonds which are now found in the Crown Jewels.
Independent reports say the Lesedi la Rona has the potential to yield the largest top-quality diamond that has ever been cut and polished.

The record is currently held by the pear-shaped Great Star of Africa, which came from the Cullinan and weighs 530.20 carats.

Father of Orlando mass killer Omar Mateen insisted his son wasn't gay

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror his dad Sediqque Mir Mateen categorically denied his son was gay describing him as “a normal family man”.
“There is no way he was homosexual, he was not brought up that way,” said the father. "I will not have it. He was not gay.
“If he was why kill those he loved. Only God can punish homosexuality. This is not an issue for humans to punish.”
He then launched into a bizarre rant blaming the club for a lack of security that allowed his son to kill.
He added: “If the club had had adequate security this would not have happened.
“The owners have to look at themselves as to why he was allowed to get in and carry out the act of terrorism.
“Clearly they were failings there. No one carrying guns like that should be allowed in. Why was he not stopped?”
Mateen’s father made a direct appeal to Prime Minister David Cameron demanding the UK “destroy the ISIS who stole my son”.
“Your Government need to do all they can to wipe out the group that poisoned my son. I will never forgive for the evil he has inflicted.”

Christina Grimmie: Justin Bieber cries while paying tribute to her at his concert

Many of Christina Grimmie's pals, including Justin Bieber, were left devastated by her tragic death. The 22-year-old heartthrob took time during his concert in Winnipeg, Canada over the weekend to remember the late singer who was shot and killed on Friday night, June 10.
In one video taken and shared online by a concertgoer, Bieber is seen lying on the floor and heard singing, "Grimmie, can you hear me?" in between lyrics of his song "Purpose". He appears to be wiping tears off his face with his arm before he stands up and continues the song.
Grimmie was fatally shot while she was signing autographs and selling merchandise after her show in Orlando late last week. The shooter, who seemed to be a complete stranger to the singer, killed himself after committing the crime.
Grimmie was friend with Bieber's ex Selena Gomez as the two toured together years ago. The late star was managed by the former Disney darling's step-dad Brian Teefey.
The ladies of 5H, meanwhile, requested a moment of silence for Grimmie, whom member Normani Kordei called "a beautiful soul" and "a beautiful talent." She said, "I remember the first time we met her, she was nothing but nice to us. So humble. We love you, and we are praying for your family, and we know you are smiling down from above. Let's all remember her: Christina Grimmie."

Orlando Shooting: Lady GaGa delivers heartfelt speech at L.A. vigil for victims

Lady GaGa joined leaders from the LGBT community to remember those killed in the Orlando mass shooting at Pulse nightclub on Saturday night, June 11. The "Bad Romance" hitmaker took the stage at the West Coast vigil in front of Los Angeles' City Hall to offer her prayers and condolences to the victims of the incident.
Facing thousands of people and some waving rainbow flags, GaGa read the names of the victims and delivered emotional speech as she struggled to hold back her tears. "As we have now witnessed the largest mass shooting in American history, I can't help but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself," she told the crowd.
"Tonight, I gather humbly with you, as a human being, in peace, in sincerity, in commitment, in solidarity, to take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of these innocent, beautiful people. I will not allow my anger and outrage over this attack to overshadow our need to honor those who are grieving truly for their lost ones," she continued.
GaGa, who was simply dressed in an all-black outfit, added, "Lost members of the LGBT community, I hope you know that myself and so many are your allies. I can't help but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, is an attack on humanity itself... Tonight, Orlando, we are united with you to remember."
