Mourinho fined 10,000 pounds for sarcastic comments

Mourinho fined 10,000 pounds for sarcastic comments

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined after his sarcastic appraisal of officials following the loss to Sunderland.
The Football Association announced on Thursday evening that Mourinho had been fined 10,000 pounds in relation to comments made about the match officials following the 2-1 Premier League defeat on April 19.
The Portuguese also failed in an appeal against his 8,000 pounds fine for his conduct towards referee Chris Foy at the end of a loss at Villa Park in March.
Mourinho lost his 77-match unbeaten home record in the Premier League to Sunderland, whose win at Stamford Bridge sparked a revival which secured their top-flight status.
Following the result, which saw his assistant Rui Faria sent to the stands and later given a six-match stadium ban, Mourinho congratulated his Chelsea players, Sunderland and then moved on to the officials.
Mourinho refused to answer questions from the media, instead making a statement.
He described referee Mike Dean's performance as "unbelievable'' and "fantastic,', before moving on to referees' chief Mike Riley, saying "what they are doing during the whole season is fantastic, especially in the last couple of months, especially in matches involving the teams that were in the title race, it's absolutely fantastic.'.
It was found that Mourinho's comments did not question the officials' integrity, but amounted to disrepute and improper conduct.
An FA statement read: "Following an independent regulatory commission hearing, Jose Mourinho has been fined 10,000 pounds in relation to comments he made after Chelsea's game against Sunderland on April 19, 2014.
"While the commission did not find that Mourinho's postmatch comments called into question the integrity of the referee appointed to the above fixture and/or the integrity of Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, they did find that the comments brought the game into disrepute and the charge for improper conduct was found proven.
"Meanwhile, Mourinho has lost his appeal against an independent regulatory commission's decision to fine him 8,000 pounds in relation to Chelsea's game against Aston Villa on on March 15, 2014.
"Mourinho denied a breach of FA Rule E3 in that his behaviour in re-entering the field of play and approaching the Match Referee in an attempt to speak to him, in or around the 90th minute of the game amounted to improper conduct.
"The charge was found proven by an independent regulatory commission and that decision was upheld by an appeal panel on Thursday."

World Cup Preparation- Cuiaba stadium worker dies

World Cup Preparatio- Cuiaba stadium worker dies

SAO PAULO -- A worker at a World Cup stadium in Brazil died on Thursday in an electrical accident, temporarily interrupting construction at one of the more delayed venues only five weeks before the tournament.
Rosenil Moraes, head of emergency services in the western state of Mato Grosso, said the construction worker received an electric shock at the site of Arena Pantanal in the wetlands city of Cuiaba. He died more than half an hour later of a cardiorespiratory arrest.
The man is the eighth worker to die in accidents during the construction of stadiums for the World Cup, which begins on June 12. His death comes at a worrisome time as organisers rush to finish the last three stadiums.
Moraes said paramedics tried to revive 32-year-old Muhammad Ali Maciel at the stadium, which is still missing seats because of delivery delays. Maciel was working for a company called Etel Engenharia that is setting up the information and communication networks at the stadium.
World Cup organisers in Brazil could not be reached for immediate comment.
Moraes said the company is carrying out an investigation into what went wrong. She said the worker appeared to be using safety equipment when he suffered the electric shock.
It is the latest accident to tarnish the World Cup preparations.
In 2012, a worker died at the construction site of the stadium in the nation's capital, Brasilia. Three workers have died in the Itaquerao stadium in Sao Paulo in two separate accidents, and three have been killed from injuries suffered at the Arena da Amazonia in the jungle city of Manaus, including a 55-year-old Portuguese man who was trying to disassemble a crane when part of the machine hit his head.

Hillary Clinton- Nigeria Under Jonathan, Squandered Oil Wealth, and Breeds Corruption

Mrs. Hillary Clinton, the former US Secretary of State in separate events in New York City said the Nigerian government under President Goodluck Jonathan, squandered its oil resources, and indirectly helps corruption to fester in the troubled country.
Clinton spoke with ABC-TV’s Robin Roberts on American national television, and also at a public function organized by the International Crisis Group. Later, the former Senator and First Lady made other critical remarks concerning Nigeria at a philanthropy parley, as she was widely quoted by several American media outlets, including CNN.

Clinton stated the following position in the New York events she attended, challenging the credibility and quality of the country's leadership under President Jonathan's watch.

"The seizure of these young women by this radical, extremist group, Boko Haram, is abominable, it’s criminal, it’s an act of terrorism, and it really merits the fullest response possible, first and foremost from the government of Nigeria,” Clinton told ABC-TV. “The government of Nigeria has been, in my view, somewhat derelict in its responsibility toward protecting boys and girls, men and women in northern Nigeria over the last years,” she said.

“The Nigerian government must accept help – particularly intelligence, surveillance and recognizance help – their troops have to be the ones that (are) necessary, but they could do a better job if they accept the offers that are being made. Nigeria has made bad choices, not hard choices," Clinton said, parroting the name of her forthcoming memoir.

"They have squandered their oil wealth; they have allowed corruption to fester, and now they are losing control of parts of their (own) territory because they would not make hard choices,” she went on to say.

"The Nigerian government has failed to confront the threat, or to address the underlying challenges. Most of all, the government of Nigeria needs to get serious about protecting all of its citizens and ensuring that every child has the right and opportunity to go to school,” she said in her address to the function organized by the International Crisis Group.

"Every asset and expertise should be brought to bear. Everyone needs to see this for what it is, it is a gross human rights abuse, but it is also part of a continuing struggle within Nigeria and within North Africa,” she added forcefully.

Clinton, often mentioned as the leading Democratic Party candidate in the upcoming 2016 U.S. Presidential election cycle, has not yet announced whether she will run for the White House. Yet, comments from the respected former U.S. Secretary of State do carry political weight beyond American borders.
