Wenger defends Alex Fergie over Moyes

Wenger defends Alex Fergie over Moyes

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defended his old adversary Sir Alex Ferguson, after he was accused of putting additional pressure on his successor David Moyes by attending a majority of recent Manchester United games.

United’s recent slump in form has led some to suggest the presence of retired United boss Ferguson in the director’s box is not helping the beleaguered Moyes, yet an open minded Wenger begs to differ.

“Ferguson was there for 27 years and when he appears in the stand the cameras are on him, but it is not his fault that United have lost games recently,” insists Wenger. “It is what then players do on the pitch that wins you the games not who is in the stand. It is good not to go overboard about him being at games.

Man, 21, burns self to death in Taraba State, Nigeria after disagreement with father

A 21-year-old man, Mansur Tanko, on Friday, burnt himself to death in Jalingo, after a disagreement with his father, Tanko Mijinyawa, over marriage.
The Taraba Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident and said the Jalingo Division of the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Tanko, according to a witness, Jibrin Bala, set himself ablaze because his family refused to approve his wedding with a girl, Blessing. The witness told sympathisers that Tanko introduced Blessing to his father as his proposed wife, but the father kicked against the union, describing it as a bad choice.

Bala said efforts by the father to convince his son to look for another girl failed, as he insisted that he could not survive without Blessing. The witness added that Tanko suddenly left his father and went to a corner in the compound, where he poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze.

Mourinho lauds Eden Hazard talent

Mourinho lauds Eden Hazard talent

Jose Mourinho again reiterated his desire to keep Eden Hazard at Chelsea, after the Belgium midfielder turned in another man of the match display as the Blues won 2-0 at Hull.
Hazard has been linked with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days, but Mourinho has stressed he would not contemplate sanctioning the sale of the player and it was clear to see why after his latest match-winning display.
Chelsea were struggling to unlock the door against a stubborn Hull side until Hazard produced a fizzing finish after 56 minutes at the KC Stadium, as he continued his rich vein of form.
Hazard has now scored three times in his last five appearances for Chelsea, with Mourinho suggesting any talk that he may be set for a Stamford Bridge exit are wide of the mark.
“The club does not want to sell him, the club wants to keep him,” Mourinho told BT Sport when asked

Beloved teen Sam Berns dies at 17 after suffering from rare disease

Saturday night could have been a moment for Sam Berns to celebrate -- standing in the middle of Gillette Stadium, flanked by some of his beloved New England Patriots, and no doubt cheered heartily by the nearly 70,000 fans surrounding him.

But it wasn't to be.

Instead of having Berns as an honorary captain in their NFL playoff with the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots held a moment of silence for the young man who inspired them and many others as he lived with progeria, which causes premature, accelerated aging.

"Do it for Sammy!" one man yelled, piercing the quiet, in video of the ceremony on Boston.com.

Berns died Friday evening due to complications from the rare genetic disease, according to the Progeria Research Foundation.
