Snapped: Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was caught in just his underwear by model Celia Kay after meeting her in a hotel hours before a game against Crystal Palace

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that disciplinary action would be taken against Olivier Giroud after he apologised for taking a female companion back to the team hotel.

Married Giroud had consistently denied taking Celia Kay to the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf the night before the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on February 2. The striker had earlier issued a grovelling apology to his wife Jennifer and the Arsenal boss after a picture by the pin-up appeared in a national newspaper.

Wenger said: ‘It is an internal matter but I do not want to comment publicly because I respect his privacy.’

The model took a picture of Giroud in his hotel room wearing just underwear, which can be seen above.

Jose Mourinho: This is Barca's worst side in years

Jose Mourinho: This is Barca's worst side in years

Jose Mourinho has claimed Manchester City will take on 'the worst Barcelona team in for many, many years' when the two teams go head to head in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Former Real Madrid boss Mourinho rarely offers up too many positive comments to offer when the subject of Barcelona is thrust in his direction, but was especially uncomplimentary towards the Catalan giants when handed the chance to give his views of the first leg encounter at the Eithad Stadium between City and Barca.

Pique: Barcelona have lost fear factor

Pique: Barcelona have lost fear factor

Gerard Pique admitted Barcelona do not quite have the same fear factor after failing to reach the last two Champions League finals.

But the defender believes the La Liga leaders have a chance to make a statement to the footballing world when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Barcelona were acclaimed as one of the greatest teams ever when they were crowned European champions in 2011 for the second time in three seasons, but since then they have gone out in the last four to Chelsea and then Bayern Munich.

And Pique admits their aura of invincibility may have gone but feels the Barcelona players’ individual achievements means they are still held in high esteem by opponents.

He said: “I think that maybe they don’t fear us as before because in the last two years we did not win the Champions League but I think they still respect us.

“We are a team with a lot of players who won the World Cup and Champions Leagues, I think we can still be the best but we have to show to the world that we can do it. Tomorrow [Tuesday] is a great opportunity to show we are top players and can win here.”

Unlike that photo of a young child supposedly sleeping by his parents' graves, this one is real. United Nations staff recovered him lost and alone, with his possessions in a small plastic bag.

EDEN HAZARD: NO REPEAT

EDEN HAZARD: NO REPEAT

Unlike a fortnight ago we were unable to match Manchester City individually or collectively, according to Eden Hazard. Like his manager Jose Mourinho, the Belgian was happy to admit City were the better team in our FA Cup fifth round loss yesterday. That was in contrast to our recent Premier League victory at the same ground when everybody in royal blue made a significant contribution to an outstanding team effort.

The winger also said he was disappointed on a personal level he was unable to match the high level of achievement he reached that evening on the rare occasions when we did manage to threaten in the final third.
'We were hoping to repeat the performance from two weeks ago but it wasn't the same match,' Hazard explained.

'Collectively we were worse because individually we were not good. I didn't play as well and we didn't play as well. That can happen. I would like to play like I did (in the league game) every match, every weekend,
