European champions Bayern Munich will play Manchester United in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Bayern dispatched Arsenal in the last-16 and will now seek to beat United, whom they defeated at this stage of the competition en route to the final in the 2009-10 season. United, victors against Bayern in the 1999 final, will seek to spring an upset to keep alive any hope of major silverware in David Moyes’ debut season.

Wenger proud of Arsenal achievements

Arsene Wenger takes charge of Arsenal for the 1,000th time in the Premier League match against Chelsea on Saturday.

The 64-year-old Frenchman -- who was appointed as Gunners boss on September 30, 1996 -- has spoken of his pride at reaching the landmark and insists he still has the drive and hunger to bring success back to the North London club.

Although the Gunners are approaching the completion of a ninth year without any silverware, Wenger believes the stepping stones are now in place for a return to the glory days.

Pirlo praised after set-piece masterclass

Andrea Pirlo was lavished with praise after his tie-winning free kick which saw Juventus reach the quarterfinals of the Europa League at the expense of Serie A rivals Fiorentina.

Pirlo, 34, struck a stunning set piece 19 minutes from time to secure a 1-0 victory in the second leg of the all-Italian last-16 tie at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to see the Turin giants progress 2-1 on aggregate. Paul Walker's Mother Seeks Guardianship of the Actor's Daughter

Per the wish expressed in the late actor's will, Paul Walker's mother has filed a petition asking to be named legal guardian of the star's 15-year-old daughter, Meadow Rain.

The papers, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles, say that "parental custody would be detrimental to the minor." And they ask that Cheryl Ann Walker – not Meadow's mom, Rebecca Jo Soteros – have custody.

Cheryl is "a loving and responsible person. She works as a registered nurse. She has raised her own four children," the papers say. "The mother has a drinking problem. Petitioner will act as the guardian of the person and estate of the minor."
