Per the wish expressed in the late actor's will, Paul Walker's mother
has filed a petition asking to be named legal guardian of the star's
15-year-old daughter, Meadow Rain.
The papers, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles, say that "parental custody would be detrimental to the minor." And they ask that Cheryl Ann Walker – not Meadow's mom, Rebecca Jo Soteros – have custody.
Cheryl is "a loving and responsible person. She works as a registered nurse. She has raised her own four children," the papers say. "The mother has a drinking problem. Petitioner will act as the guardian of the person and estate of the minor."

Meadow, her mother and her grandmother all currently live
together in L.A. The papers – Walker's will was uncontested – say Meadow
has been living with her grandmother since August 2012, following a
year living with her father. Before that, Meadow grew up living with her
mom in Hawaii.
A hearing on the guardianship petition is set for April 30.
Walker, who died Nov. 30
in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita, Calif., named Meadow the sole
income beneficiary of a trust worth over $16 million that she will
eventually inherit, the papers say.
The grandmother is not planning to adopt Meadow.
The Fast and the Furious actor was never married to Soteros. The two shared custody of Meadow over the years.
