Dressed in a shiny, grey suit and with gelled hair, Simon Brodkin - best known for his comic creation Lee Nelson - pushed past the security guards and attempted to join the squad today as they flew from Luton Airport to Miami for the start of their World Cup training.

The players, including Steven Gerrard, looked on in bemusement as Brodkin, who was in the guise of footballer Jason Bent, a fictitious character from his BBC Three series Lee Nelson's Well Funny People, shuffled into their midst.
He waved his passport at the security guards as the players made their way from a coach to a private hangar ready to board the plane. The comic was then seen berating Steven Gerrard, demanding to know why he hadn't been picked to represent England in the World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday, June 12.
While the players were seen giggling as the comedian joined their number, concerned England officials were snapped pointing out their rogue 'player' to security, and he was escorted away for questioning.
Questioning by the Police

No other football fans turned up to see the England squad leave for the tournament in Brazil.
The squad will play two friendlies in Florida to begin the final countdown to their World Cup countdown.
They will play matches against Ecuador and Honduras on Wednesday and Saturday, which will give boss Roy Hodgson the chance to give every player a game.

Barcelona are willing to sell the Spain midfielder as he does not figure in their plans for next season.
It is understood that Fabregas has a £30million release clause written into his contract.
The 27-year-old is expected to interest a number of top Premier League teams, including his former club Arsenal.
Manchester United could be another destination following the attempts of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to sign him last summer.
Fabregas signed a five-year contract at Barcelona in 2011, the club from which Arsenal snared him as a 16-year-old, describing the move back home as the "greatest challenge of his life".
He scored nine goals in 48 appearances last term but the Catalan side endured a rare trophyless campaign.

Justin Bieber Apologizes for Racist Joke Made

Justin Bieber has issued a statement after a years-old video of him making an offensive joke involving N-word emerged online. On Sunday, June 1, Bieber's camp issued a statement in which the singer apologized for his words. "As a young man, I didn't understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn't realize at the time that it wasn't funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance," he said.

"Thanks to friends and family I learned from my mistakes and grew up and apologized for those wrongs. Now that these mistakes from the past have become public I need to apologize again to all of those who I have offended," he added. "I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again."

"I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again. Ignorance has no place in our society and I hope the sharing of my faults can prevent others from making the same mistake in the future," he continued, admitting that he made "a reckless and immature mistake."

The said clip apparently was filmed when Bieber was 15. In the short clip, he can be seen saying, "Why are black people afraid of chainsaw?" He then delivered the punchline, "Run n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****."

"I will be part of Atletico all my life for what they have given me this year," he said.
The transfer now appears to be in place and the Villa deal would mark the New York club's first signing since bring officially announced as an expansion team last year, and would constitute a considerable coup for the team. Villa is coming off a La Liga title-winning season with Atletico Madrid, where he scored 13 goals in 36 appearances, 32 of them starts. He has also had successful spells with Sporting Gijon, Real Zaragoza, Valencia, and Barcelona.

Sudanese woman sentenced to death for marrying a christian 'to be freed'

Sudanese woman sentenced to death for marrying a christian 'to be freed'

The Sudanese Government have decided to free Mariam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman sentenced to death by hanging for denouncing her Islamic religion.

A Sudanese Under-secretary at the foreign ministry Abdullahi Alzareg said Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman. He said Meriam would be free from prison in a matter of days.

Meanwhile her lawyer, Elshareef Ali Mohammed has expressed reservations over the government's new position, saying they are just trying to divert international attention from the case and that he doubts she would be freed soon
"It’s a statement to silence the international media. This is what the government does. We will not believe that she is being freed until she walks out of the prison. If they were to release her, the announcement would come from the appeal court and not from the ministry of foreign affairs. But at least it shows our campaign to free Meriam is rattling them. We must keep up the pressure.” he said
Meriam gave birth to her second baby in prison on Tuesday May 27th.
