The Queen was caught on camera calling Chinese officials "very rude" during a meet-and-greet session yesterday.
The monarch, who recently turned 90, was referring to the behaviour of Chinese officials during last year's visit by President Xi Jinping.
She was having a conversation with a senior police officer regarding how the British ambassador to China was treated last year.
Their conversation was filmed at a garden party held at Buckingham Palace.
At the time Buckingham Palace said the Chinese state visit was "extremely successful".
However the remarks from the Queen to Metropolitan Police Commander Lucy D'Orsi paint a different picture.
Commander D'Orsi was in charge of President Xi's security during his visit to the UK.
When she told the Queen this, the Queen responds: "Oh, bad luck."
An official who was organising the brief meeting told the queen that D'Orsi was "seriously, seriously undermined by the Chinese, but she managed to hold her own and remain in command".
That's when the Queen says: "They were very rude to the ambassador weren't they?"
Commander D'Orsi replied: "They were".
The senior police officer added that officials were "very rude and very undiplomatic".
The Queen then describes their behaviour as "extraordinary".
Commander Lucy D'Orsi was later asked about her conversation with the Queen before the video emerged.
She said: "We were talking about juggling being a working mum.
