These are the 5 Best Premiership Goals of 2013 - Video

The year 2013 was an such an amazing year in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere, David Luiz, Van perse....

They are just a few of the elite stars that stun us with their prowess at goal with class every week.

However, football is a global sport and players that may never get the chance of mixing it with the best in the world are still capable of producing a wonder strike.

1. Jack Wilshere - Arsenal vs Norwich City

This is simply one of the best team goals ever. Santi Cazorla to Wilshere to Cazorla to Olivier Giroud to Wilshere to Giroud to Wilshere. Six touches, six passes executed with such casual skill and excellence in such a small space with each being more important and more brilliant than the one before. All of this was done in one fluent piece of play that any team in the world would struggle to contain.

2. David Luiz - Chelsea vs Fulham

His defensive qualities may come into question, but Luiz is most certainly a threat going forward, even if it can get his side into danger. However, the only thing in danger here was the net.

The Brazilian's rocket from 30-yards out swerved into Mark Schwarzer's top corner. The Australian 'keeper was presumably so shocked that he left for Chelsea in the summer to ensure that he would never face Luiz again.

2014 Most Anticipated New Movies

With hundreds of potential movies coming out next year, it's hard to pick only ten of them, but here are those we think worth to get excited about. First that came to the mind is "Interstellar", for it has Christopher Nolan behind it. Then the other titles started pouring in once we establish the parameter, i.e the hype and the talents. Take into mind that there's a separate article to list top 10 movie sequels.

Also found within the list is definite audience magnet, "Godzilla". It's one of those movies that has countless misleading remakes in the past but is now served justice by being put in line with the original classic. In the case of "Divergent", it is undeniable that young adult novels are the trend, and to make a movie based on them is a studio's smartest move in money making.

RoboCop

RoboCop - 2014 Most Anticipated New Movies
Release Date: February 12

Remember the '80s when action science fiction became so popular, and Paul Verhoeven delivered one of the best flicks in the genre? More than 20 years later, "Elite Squad: The Enemy Within" director Jose Padilha attempts to refurbish the cyborg movie with "The Killing" star Joel Kinnaman in titular role. It is such a huge courage to try to top off Verhoeven's version which was praised for its over-the-top violence as well as perfect comedic and philosophical values. The 2014 movie gives those up for a family-friendly PG-13, but then the youngsters should learn about a robot that made it in Hollywood well before Transformers. The first trailer released for the movie shows explosions and body counts yet lacks the gory scenes and black comedy essence. Fanboys would probably squirm on their seats for that but may find Padilha's engaging in terms of its improved technology and effects.

Divergent

Divergent - 2014 Most Anticipated New Movies
Release Date: March 21

Book adaptation and a trilogy have been a successful combo in Hollywood lately. Given the popularity of Veronica Roth's novels, "Divergent" is a promising start to a successful franchise. Roth's work has been compared to fellow young adult books "The Hunger Games" which has spawned two box office blockbusters. Lionsgate quickly secured the rights to all three books and cast uprising star Shailene Woodley as the main heroine. "Divergent" is set in a distant future where Chicago citizens are divided into factions based on their personalities. Teenagers aged 16 will do a test to determine their trait but if they don't fit in any particular faction, then they are a divergent. There is a hunt for divergents' life, and Woodley's Tris has to find out why people like her are a threat to their authoritarian leader. There's a mix of action, romance and psychology that Neil Burger has to juggle here, but for someone who has directed the intricate 2006's "The Illusionist", it should be a breeze.

Noah

Noah - 2014 Most Anticipated New Movies
Release Date: March 28

First of all, it would be interesting how they are going to make such a well-known story into a movie. Secondly, it has the most in-demand director in the market, Darren Aronofsky, who gets the liberty to spend quite a budget for this movie. Russell Crowe stars in the titular character, backed up by Emma Watson,

A Writer 'Odia Ofeimun' says Awolowo was greater than Mandela

A Writer 'Odia Ofeimun' says Awolowo was greater than Mandela

In an interview with Sahara TV, the writer, poet & social critique said late premier of the old Western region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was a greater man than South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, Dr. Nelson Mandela.
I am too much of an Awolowo man not to see that the process of moving into independence in South Africa and in Nigeria followed exactly the same pattern. It was based on a negotiated settlement. The liberation struggle did not create the end of apartheid. It was a negotiation and Nigerians negotiated exactly the way Mandela negotiated.

Cristiano Ronaldo Reign in 2013

Cristiano Ronaldo Reign in 2013

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat trick in the second leg of Portugal’s World Cup qualifying playoff against Sweden single-handedly pushed his nation through to the tournament and was a late-in-the-year performance that also strengthened his bid for the Ballon d’Or and World Player of the Year awards. However, as legendary as that performance was, it is not the only reason that he was the sport’s standout player of the year.

Here are five other notes that tell us why 2013 belonged to Cristiano Ronaldo:

Pope Makes a Passionate Call to End War in New Years Speech

Pope Makes a Passionate Call to End War in New Years Speech
Pope Francis kicked off 2014 by giving a passionate appeal for global solidarity, and an end to war during his New Year blessing.

Addressing a crowd of tens of thousands in St Peter's Square, he went broke away from his prepared speech to say this to the crowd:

"What on Earth is happening in the hearts of men? What on Earth is happening in the heart of humanity? It's time to stop!"

He further urged the world to listen to the "cry for peace."

An especially important plea when the death toll in Syria's conflict have now reached 113,735 — 11,420 of those being children.

Pope Francis, who was named TIME Person of the Year 2013, has been celebrated by religious and non-religious people alike for his candid comments on gay rights, poverty, and capitalism.

Recently, he condemned the ever-widening gap between the rich and poor, saying that "While the earnings of a minority are growing exponentially, so too is the gap separating the majority from the prosperity enjoyed by those happy few."

Back in July, the 78-year-old pontiff stirred controversy when he said "Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord?"

The surprising comments even earned him the title of person of the year by LGBT rights magazine The Advocate. Still, gay marriage and adoption are probably off the table for the Catholic Church, the Pope was reportedly "shocked" by a Malta bill allowing for gay adoption.

Even if his comments on gay rights and women have been controversial, his condemnations of inequality have really resonated with people around the world.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Slammed Justin Bieber for Buying Dog

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA doesn't applaud Justin Bieber's decision to buy a dog. Despite showing his love to animal, the Canadian pop star is criticized for failing to set a good example to his fans by purchasing a puppy from a pet store instead of adopting one from a shelter.

Daphna Nachminovitch, PETA's Senior Vice President of Cruelty Investigations, tells Wenn, "Whether or not reports are true that Justin Bieber purchased a puppy from a pet store for $600, PETA wants to remind everyone that when you buy a dog or cat from a pet store or breeder, you sentence an animal in a shelter to death."
