Among Most Pirated Movies of 2013 - 'The Hobbit', 'Django Unchained' and 'Fast and Furious 6'

While "Game of Thrones" topped the 2013 list of most-pirated TV shows, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is the most-pirated movie of the year. It's estimated to have been downloaded 8.4 million times. The number is slightly less than 8.72 million illegal downloads suffered by "Project X" in 2012.

The first installment of Peter Jackson's three-part prequel to "Lord of the Rings" trilogy gained over $1 billion
worldwide. It became the 4th-highest grossing film of 2012 and the 16th-biggest earner of all time. Its sequel "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" released in December 2013, meanwhile, posted the ninth-highest gross.

"Django Unchained" follows as the second most-pirated movie. According to TorretFreak, the Quentin Tarantino western slavery pic was illegally downloaded 8.1 million times. "Fast and Furious 6" places third with 7.9 million downloads, and 2013's highest-grossing film "Iron Man 3" is in the fourth place with 7.6 million downloads.

The movies, however, could be pirated more than what the numbers reflect since it didn't take into consideration online streaming and cyberlocker downloads.
