Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora were among celebrities who showed off their fabulous figures at the red carpet of 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards in London on Tuesday night, September 2. Kim, who was accompanied by husband Kanye West, took home Woman of the Year Award at the ceremony.

Kim wore an Atsuko Kudo latex bodysuit paired with gunmetal skirt by Ralph & Russo which showed off her curvy figure. The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star completed her looks with a pair of Tom Ford heels. After winning the award, Kim shared, "What a huge honour to win Woman of the Year. It's so special. I want to thank my husband for making me feel like the Woman of the Year every single day."

Cara, meanwhile, opted for a sheer look by flaunting her bare breast in a navy sheer overlay dress combined with matching pants. She completed her look with a tiny belt and a pair of black heels. Before entering the venue, Cara lost her steps and fell flat on her back. She was helped by designer Jonathan Saunders who was nearby at that time.

Rita flaunted her long legs in a one-shoulder metallic gown with a high slit. She completed her look with a pair of nude strap heels.

Other celebrities who also attended the annual event included Lindsay Lohan, Jessie J, Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding and Jamie Dornan.

Indonesian village’s yearly ritual of digging up its dead to give them a wash and clothe them

They say the dead live on in our hearts and minds - but in one Indonesian village, the deceased continue to walk the earth in a rather more literal, zombie-like fashion.  

Families in Toraja in South Sulawesi dig up the bodies of their dead relatives before washing, grooming and dressing them in fancy new clothes.

Even dead children are exhumed - two of these photos show the skeleton of a baby wrapped in a print dress with a doll laid next to it. 

Damaged coffins are fixed or replaced, and the mummies are then walked around the village by following a path of straight lines. 

The ritual is called MaiNene, or The Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses, and takes place every August. 

 According to the ancient Torajan belief system, the spirit of a dead person must return to his village of origin. 

So if a person died on a journey, the family would go to the place of death and accompany the deceased back home by walking them back to the village.

In the past, people were frightened to journey far, in case they died while they were away and were unable to return to their village.

Manchester United transfer spree is amazing- Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson says he is glad he is not in charge of Manchester United's finances after the club splashed out 153 million pounds in the summer transfer window.

New manager Louis van Gaal, backed by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, brokered big-money deals for Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria and, on deadline day, a loan move for Radamel Falcao.

The 59.7 million-pound signing of Di Maria from Real Madrid was a British transfer record, something Ferguson broke himself in 2001 when he spent 28 million pounds on Juan Sebastian Veron. But the Scot made it quite clear he is happy those days are behind him.

"Certainly it's amazing, the amount of money spent nowadays," said Ferguson, talking at the annual UEFA coaches seminar in Nyon.

"My personal opinion is that it's never going to change, the world is progressing, and transfer fees with it, and I don't know if there will be an end to it. Fortunately, I'm not at the hub of it nowadays."

Following United's transfer haul and the release of several players who had come through the Old Trafford ranks, such as Danny Welbeck who completed a 16 million-pound switch to Arsenal and Tom Cleverley who moved on loan to Aston Villa, Ferguson's former long-term assistant Mike Phelan suggested the club's identity was "broken".

But United remain adamant that Van Gaal, who has a record for giving youth a chance in the past, including the likes of Edgar Davids, Patrick Kluivert, Xavi, Toni Kroos and Thomas Mueller, will continue to promote from within.

The Dutch manager has seen enough from James Wilson -- a two-goal star in Ryan Giggs' final game in charge as interim manager last year -- to push him up to fourth-choice striker, allowing Welbeck and Real Madrid-bound Javier Hernandez to leave.

Along with Wilson, defenders Tyler Blackett, Michael Keane and Reece James have been promoted to the first team, as well as midfielder Jesse Lingard. Of United's 35-strong squad, 21 are younger than 25 years old, while 14 are English.

Fight against Ebola: WHO approve use of Ebola survivors' blood for treatment

The blood of patients who recover from Ebola should be used to treat others, the World Health Organization has announced.

West Africa is facing the largest Ebola outbreak in history and more than 2,000 people have died.

A global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental therapies that could contain Ebola.

The WHO also announced that Ebola vaccines could be used on the frontline by November.

Blood medicine

People produce antibodies in the blood in an attempt to fight off an Ebola infection.

In theory, those antibodies can be transferred from a survivor into a sick patient to give their immune system a boost.

However, large scale data on the effectiveness of the therapy is lacking.

Studies on the 1995 outbreak of Ebola in Democratic Republic of Congo showed seven out of eight people survived after being given the therapy. 

Dr Marie Paule Kieny, an assistant director general at WHO said: "We agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat Ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them.

"There is a real opportunity that a blood-derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients."

She said that it was the one positive aspect of so many people being infected.

"There are also many people now who have survived and are doing well. They can provide blood to treat the other people who are sick."

AM NOT AN ANGEL- POPE FRANCIS

It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of opportunity: teenagers from five continents speaking directly with Pope Francis through a Google video chat.

The students from schools in Australia, Israel, Turkey, South Africa and El Salvador heard advice from the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, speaking Thursday from the Vatican in his native Spanish.

“In life,” the Pope from Argentina told them, “you can (do) either one of two opposite things: You can build bridges or walls. Walls separate and divide. Bridges get people closer.”

The Pope also allowed the teenagers to express their views during the video conference using the Google Hangouts platform.

A student from Istanbul reflected on world peace. “People from all nationalities that contain different religions and ethnic groups must learn how to live in peace,” the Turkish student said.

The Pope participated in the video chat after meeting with the directors of the Scholas Ocurrentes organization, an international education initiative based in Argentina that promotes development of young students through technology, sports, arts and culture. The Vatican is promoting the project.

The Pope spoke without a prepared text. Before the video chat, he had shared an anecdote from his childhood with Scholas directors in attendance.

Francis said he once got in trouble with his teacher for misbehaving. His mother, the Pope said, went to his school and made him apologize to the teacher upon confirming he had misbehaved.

“Today in many schools,” the Pope said, “a teacher will make an observation about a child and the next day the parents will denounce the teacher. The educational pact is broken!”

For dozens of Salvadoran students, the video chat with the Pope was cause for celebration. For a brief moment, the spotlight was on La Campanera, a community near San Salvador, the capital, plagued by gang violence and poverty.

“Beware of maras,” Pope Francis told them using the local word for gangs, “because in the same way that there are bridges that unite you there are also links that can destroy you. Be alert. There are groups that seek destruction, that seek war, that don't know how to be team players.”

There were also funny moments during the 20-minute video chat. A student from South Africa told the Pope in Spanish not to get nervous as he was about to ask a few questions. The Pope laughed out loud.

To a question from a Turkish boy about what young people should expect from the future, the Pope said he doesn't have a crystal ball. "The future," the pontiff said, "is in your heart, in your mind and in your hands."

Clinic where Joan River died faces investigations amid claims she was given same drug that killed the King of Pop 'Michael Jackson'

Joan Rivers may have been given the same drug that killed Michael Jackson when she went into cardiac and respiratory arrest at a New York clinic, it has been sensationally claimed today.

The 81-year-old comedy legend slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness after being sedated for an endoscopy procedure. She died Thursday afternoon.

The New York State Department of health has launched an investigation into Yorkville Endoscopy, the out-patient  clinic where Rivers went into arrest. The clinic has said it is cooperating fully. 

RadarOnline reports that Rivers was given Propofol, which is often used was an anesthetic for simple medical procedures.

It is the same drug that gained infamy after it was revealed that the King of Pop died after taking a cocktail of drugs that included Propofol. 

 In the days before her death, she reportedly had her hair and makeup done every day - a testament to the consummate performer's desire to always look her best, the New York Daily News reports. 

Her suit at Mount Sinai Hospital was filled with decoration and flowers in an effort to make her comfortable in her last moments, the newspaper reports.

On Tuesday night she picked up the Woman of the Year award at the GQ Men of the Year ceremony in London wearing a revealing leather bustier and see-through gunmental skirt.

But on Wednesday, Kim Karadashian went one better as her naked photo shoot for Britain's GQ was revealed. 

Mrs Kardashian West chose a blonde wig for the nude spread, although the cover shot - Instagrammed by her proud momager Kris Jenner - was quite tame, featuring a sultry Kim pouting for the camera with just her bare shoulders on show.

Kim also posted a picture from the racy naked shoot, which exposed her bare bottom, only slightly obstructed by a pair of high heels.

She simply captioned the naked photo '#GQ' to her millions of followers on Instagram.

Meanwhile, her mother Kris couldn't wait to share the saucy cover image, posting the picture and writing: 'Congratulations @kimkardashian on receiving @GQ's Woman of the Year Award and on your @BritishGQ cover!! So proud of you! #TomMunro photography #stunning.'

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli was taken off in a behind closed doors friendly with Wolves after a heated conversation with referee Chris Foy.

The 24-year-old, who moved to Anfield from AC Milan in a £16million deal last month, appeared to be held back by Kolo Toure as Foy attempted to talk to him during the game at Melwood.

Sportsmail understands the Italian was involved in a robust 50-50 challenge with a Wolves player. No altercation took place and Balotelli was substituted soon after.

Toure put his arm around his former Manchester City team-mate as Foy spoke to him about the incident. Balotelli was later pictured leaving the training ground.

The ex-Inter Milan star had started the game with the likes of Adam Lallana, Jose Enrique and Lucas. The hosts ran out 1-0 winners against the Championship side, with Lallana scoring the goal.

Balotelli made his debut for Brendan Rodgers' side in last Sunday's 3-0 win against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

He failed to score but impressed with his movement in the box as the Reds returned to winning ways after a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Rodgers had joked that Balotelli would bring 'trouble' to Liverpool, but insisted that it was worth the gamble to bring the Italy international to Merseyside.

Last month he told Sky Sports: 'Look at the talent. He's at a stage in his career where this is his chance. I've worked with those types of players all my life in youth coaching where I've never had the finished article.

'He needs to be consistent and if he can do that he will be one hell of a player. Most players I like to look in their eye and see honesty and humility.

'We went three-and-a-half hours talking it through. He's at a massive club. We can help him improve his game - he's a very bright boy and he knows this is his last chance.

The Blues legend left Stamford Bridge for New York City in the summer after a glittering 13 years in west London.

However, with his future still up in the air towards the end of the campaign, he decided against saying a big farewell to fans after their last home game in case he performed a dramatic U-turn and remained at the club.

I didn't want to do the big parade - 'Thanks a lot and goodbye everyone' - because that would have looked a bit foolish if it had gone the other way and I'd stayed,' Lampard told The Sun.

'I ended up stuck in the middle. So I just did the usual lap and a wave because we knew Ash [Cole] was leaving, we had a bit of a moment with him.

'There are not a lot of things I regret in my Chelsea career but not being able to say my goodbyes properly to all of the Chelsea fans is certainly one. Thirteen years is a long time.'

2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards: Drake Leads with 8 nominations

For the first time, Drake leads the nominees of the upcoming 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards. According to an announcement made by BET on Thursday, September 4, the rapper has eight nominations in various categories including Best Hip Hop Video for "Worst Behavior", Best Live Performer and MVP of the Year.

His chart-topping album "Nothing Was the Same" is also nominated for Album of the Year award alongside Eminem's "MMLP2", Future's "Honest", Rick Ross' "Mastermind", SchoolBoy Q's "Oxymoron" and Yo Gotti's "I Am". Additionally, the Toronto MC is once again up for this year's People's Champ Award.

Here comes the Leader: As Neymar is made Brazil captain

Neymar has been confirmed as the new Brazil captain.

Brazil coach Dunga said Barcelona star Neymar would be taking the armband from Thiago Silva but insisted he expected his players to show leadership throughout the team.

Neymar is still just 22 but has already made over 50 appearances for the five-time world champions.

"He is a reference point for Brazilian football," Dunga said at a news conference on Thursday. "He has great quality and, despite his age, he is experienced.

"The captain is an example for all of his teammates overall. We have to have a strong group so that Neymar can grow more each day, as a player, as a person, being an example to children."

On the need for leadership throughout the side, he added: "Whenever we have been champions, we had that. We need more players with this quality on the pitch."

He said he had spoken to Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva about the decision and stressed that Brazil would be starting a new "cycle" but added: "As I said before, we need more leaders. A player not having the armband does not make them less of a leader."

Jennifer Lopez is releasing a music video for "Booty (Remix)" featuring Iggy Azalea. To build the anticipation, the Latin singer has let fans take a peek at the upcoming visuals by sharing a preview showing her flaunting her famous backside in skimpy outfits.

The 33-second raunchy clip, arriving via YouTube on Thursday, September 4, features plenty shots of J.Lo shaking her ass to the music while getting drenched. Midway through the video, Azalea makes a brief appearance alongside her collaborator.

"Booty" is originally Lopez's collaboration with Pitbull and it's included on her latest album "A.K.A.". The remix version, in which Azalea replaces Mr. Worldwide's verse, was released last month. Its music video, directed by Hype Williams, will be released in full on September 9 just after the "On the Floor" hitmaker takes the stage at the 2014 Fashion Rocks global charity fundraiser in New York City.

Also on Thursday, Lopez surprised Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb as she made a surprise visit to the "Today" show. During the NBC show, the 45-year-old diva discussed the "Booty" remix, its video and art cover as well as her first memoir titled "True Love".

Talking about the book, she revealed that it was originally supposed to be a diary of her experience from her first world tour in 2012.

"It became more of ... what that year was like and how transformational it was at that moment, because of the low I was going through [and] at the same time, going through this tremendous high of meeting my fans all over the world for the first time," she explained. Joan Rivers Dies at 81

Joan Rivers passed away Thursday afternoon, September 4 in a New York hospital. The comedienne was 81. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Rivers and grandson Cooper who had stayed by her side during her hospitalization. Funeral will take place at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan on Sunday.

"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers," Melissa said. "She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided by mother."

"Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

Joan was rushed to the Mount Sinai Hospital Thursday, August 28 after going into cardiac arrest during a minor throat surgery at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic. The outpatient clinic is now being investigated by the New York State Department of Health.

Joan's family gave little information about her condition, but Melissa recently confirmed that the "Fashion Police" star was put on life support. "The cause and manner of death will be announced at some point," said a rep for New York medical examiner's office.

Condolences and prayers were pouring in from fans, friends, and colleagues. Larry King remembered her as "a dear & wonderful friend who I've known for 45yrs. Great guest, pal, comedian & mother. We will never see her likes again." Jimmy Kimmel tweeted, "We lost a great one in @Joan_Rivers - she was funny all the way to the end."

Kathy Griffin paid tribute to the late star, "A legend, a friend, a mentor, an icon, and wildly funny. One of a kind. RIP #JoanRivers @joan_rivers." Ellen DeGeneres wrote, "Joan Rivers will always be a pioneer. She paved the way for a lot of comedians. I'm very sad she's gone."

Samuel L. Jackson posted, "Love Her or Hate Her, we're gonna Miss JOAN RIVERS! I always Respected her go for broke humor. One of a kind.R.I.P." Ryan Seacrest said, "She was trailblazing. Hysterical. Thoughtful. We'll miss you immensely Joan." Sharon Osbourne joined the mourners, "My heart goes out to Melissa & her son Edgar Cooper. Love and respect from the Osbourne family to you both."

With 11 goals scored in three consecutive wins, Jose Mourinho's men have started the campaign in ominous form. The impressive Diego Costa has scored four times, while Cesc Fabregas has slotted effortlessly back into the Premier League.

3. Atletico Madrid

The reigning Spanish champions saw their title-winning squad decimated by the team on top of this week's top 10 but have made shrewd signings over the summer, including Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann, and look set to challenge again.

4. Bayer Leverkusen

An opening-day win at Dortmund served notice that the Bundesliga race may involve more than one -- or two -- teams this season. Leverkusen followed up that triumph with a 4-2 win versus Hertha and have also won through to the group stages of the Champions League.

5. Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola's side are unbeaten to start the season but the early weeks have not been without problems for Bayern. Injuries to Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger have forced transfer activity, with Medhi Benatia and Xabi Alonso quickly being drafted in.

6. Liverpool

Luis Suarez may have departed but last season's Premier League runners-up showed versus Tottenham that they will be a threat again. How Mario Balotelli works out remains to be seen, but what is certain is that Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling are getting better and better.

Having led 2-0, the European champions capitulated to defeat at Real Sociedad, and there are signs that the sales of Alonso and Angel Di Maria may have left Carlo Ancelotti's side a little top-heavy. They'll score plenty, but how many will they concede?

Clinic which treated Joan Rivers is reviewed by Health Department

Health Department is launching a review over a clinic which treated Joan Rivers before her condition went critical last week. According to TMZ, officials at health department confirm that they are "reviewing the matter," but they are not conducting official investigation. The review apparently may take weeks up to months.

Rivers underwent a procedure to repair her vocal cords at Yorkville Endoscopy on Thursday, August 28. The 81-year-old comedian, however, stopped breathing during the procedure and was rushed to Mount Sinai hospital. Sources told the site that health department had contacted the clinic twice since last Thursday.

On Wednesday, the "Fashion Police" star's daughter Melissa Rivers gave an update on her mother's condition, saying that she had been moved from ICU into a private room. "My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support," she said.

Numerous celebrities such as Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and Mike Tyson have tweeted their support since the comedian got hospitalized. "On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received," Melissa said in a previous statement. "I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

Chris Brown Pleaded Guilty to Assault

 Chris Brown has pleaded guilty in his Washington, D.C. assault case. The "With You" singer appeared in court on Tuesday, September 2 wearing a gray suit, white shirt and glasses. The judge sentenced him to time already served.

Brown's lawyer Danny Onorato told the court that his client had received punishment for the assault. "To say that he's been punished severely in this matter is an understatement," he said, as quoted by NY Daily News. He additionally said that Brown wanted to resolve the case because he wanted to concentrate on tour. In the court, Brown apologized for his action. "I would like to say to the court that I'm sorry," he stated.

Back in October, Brown hit a man named Parker Adams outside the W hotel when he tried to join the singer and two female fans while they were taking photos. The Grammy-winning singer then was charged with misdemeanor assault and spent two days in custody.

Brown's bodyguard Christopher Hollosy also hit Adams. He was convicted of misdemeanor assault in April, but he has not been sentenced.

Brown, who was in probation in relation to Rihanna assault case, served 131 days in prison for probation violation. He was released in June.

 Melissa Rivers gives update on her mother Joan Rivers' condition amidst conflicting reports that the comedienne is being brought out of coma. The daughter confirms her mom is hooked on machines to stay alive but insists that "at this time she does remain on life support."

Joan was rushed to the Mount Sinai Hospital Thursday, August 28 after going into cardiac arrest during a throat surgery. Doctors put her in a medically induced coma as they attempted to assess the damage. Love, prayers, and get-well wishes were pouring in from friends and colleagues including her "Fashion Police" co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos.

Fernando Torres on Jose Mourinho: our paths will meet again possibly in the future

 Fernando Torres said during his unveiling at AC Milan that he had a positive relationship with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and added: "Perhaps in the future our paths will meet again."
Torres has joined Milan on a two-year loan, which is set to take him to the end of his Chelsea contract, and said he felt the need to move on after struggling to meet expectations since his 2011 move from Liverpool.
"I thank Liverpool and Chelsea for everything they gave me, but I felt it was the right moment to change," he told a news conference in Milan on Tuesday. "When the chance to join Milan presented itself, I accepted and I am looking to score lots of goals again. I needed a new challenge.
"A new adventure is about to begin and I hope to achieve what I have done in my previous experiences. I hope to spend many years at Milan, full of success and trophies. I am very happy."
Despite Mourinho regularly citing issues with his strikeforce for the Blues' failure to win a trophy last season, the former Inter boss said on several occasions that he was impressed by Torres' attitude.
"I had a very good relationship with Jose," Torres said. "When I was signed by Milan he wished me all the best. He spoke about the passion that the city of Milan has for football and that I would settle in well. I learnt a lot from him as a coach. Perhaps in the future our paths will meet again."
On the Portuguese's praise, the Spain international added: "I thank Mourinho for his words. I don't need to say anything else. We have to always act and play as professionals."
Torres helped the Blues to the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge but acknowledges that, despite the lack of silverware, he was able to make a bigger impact during his spells with Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.
"I've played in three different teams," he said. "I won more with Chelsea but scored more goals with my other two clubs. Milan is a new adventure for me. I cannot wait to score for the fans and win titles.
"It's important to both myself and Milan to rediscover my form and help Milan get back to the highest levels."
Torres will be joined at Milan by Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who agreed a season-long loan on deadline day.

Pope welcomes Maradonna and football greats from across the world to Vatican for inter-faith ‘match for peace'

A glittering list of football stars, including arguably the greatest player of all time, Diego Maradona, met Pope Francis yesterday before an inter-religious charity match.

Before the game, Pope Francis was presented with an Argentina shirt by the man known to many for his 'Hand of God' in the 1986 World Cup quarter final defeat of England. 

 

At the time of fellow Argentinian Pope Francis' election in March, Maradona remarked: 'Everybody in Argentina can remember "the hand of God" in the England match in the 1986 World Cup. Now, in my country, the "hand of God" has brought us an Argentinian pope.'

The players met the Pope prior to the 'football match with peace' yesterday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, that was organised to promote world peace and understanding.

 

 

 

Maradona was joined by former players such as Carlos Valderrama (famous for his distinctive blonde mop), Roberto Baggio and Zinedine Zidane, as well as current stars including Lionel Messi and Andrea Pirlo at the Vatican.

The game is part of the Pope's call for 'dialogue' in times of religiously motivated wars and to promote a diplomatic solution to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

The idea for the match arose in April 2013 following a conversation between former Argentine player Javier Zanetti and Pope Francis.

Speaking in the build-up to the match, Zanetti said: 'When I spoke with Pope Francis about this project, it was a big concern for us to do something for world peace. 

'I think the fact that so many stars have joined in can help professional football support peace. 

'Although the game was to raise money for charitable purposes, the most important thing we want to do is spread the Pope's message of peace to the world.' 

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Argentina manager Gerardo 'Tata' Martino were the manager for the two teams. 

The two teams, named PUPI and SCHOLAS were captained by Zanetti and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. 

Wenger's involvement was been criticised by some Arsenal fans who think their manager should be trying to buy a striker before the transfer window was closed yesterday.
