Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner will not be completely written off of "Fast and Furious 7".
While the new plotline for the upcoming seventh installment is still
unclear, Universal assures that the actor who passed away last month in a
fiery car accident will still be a part of the movie.
"Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast and Furious 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures
on April 10, 2015. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely
successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as
producers," the studio says in a statement.
The announcement comes on heels of Diesel's Facebook post which revealed the new release date and showed his final scene with his late co-star. "The last scene
we filmed together...There was a unique sense of completion, of pride
we shared... in the film we were now completing... the magic captured...
and, in just how far we've come...," he wrote.
The movie was originally set for July 11, 2014. Production is currently
put on hold as the script is getting rewrite on heels of Walker's sudden
death. His brother Cody is rumored being asked to step in for the late
star to film the final scenes, but nothing has been set in stone.
Returning cast Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham join such new members as Kurt Russell.
