According to French newspaper Le Monde, one of the suspects arrested is a limo driver from an upscale private limousine company that the Kardashian family regularly used during their trips to Paris. Police have confirmed that the 27-year-old limo driver was the last person to chauffeur Kim before the robbery.
The newspaper additionally reported that the oldest suspect is 72 years old and identified as "Pierre B." Pierre, who is believed to be the ringleader of the heist, was arrested at his villa in Plascassier, a village near Grasse, in the south of France.
Two other suspects were seen in Antwerp, Belgium, where police think the stolen gems were taken. Five of the 17 suspects are burglars, averaging at 55 years old. It's further said that DNA was discovered on a piece of duct tape used to tie up the reality TV star and it matched the police records of a man arrested for armed robbery. It reportedly helped identify one of the five men.
All 17 people will be held for up to 96 hours for questioning before being charged or released. It's still unknown if the stolen items have been sold or whether they can be recovered.
Kim's French lawyer Jean Veil told France 2 TV (via Reuters) that his client's "very happy, very satisfied and to a certain extent reassured by the efficiency of the French police." Meanwhile, a source close to the star told PEOPLE that while Kim "is relieved they are making progress, any updates makes her relive everything. It's still very tough for her to deal with."
