Police raided a drug lord’s prison ‘secure’ cell and found him living like a lord.
The three room ‘cell’ had a library, lounge, large screen TV, kitchen, en-suite bathroom and a conference table.
There was even a collection of bookes and DVDs, including one about drug king-pin Pablo Escobar , who once had his own prison built while doing time on tax evasion charges.
The interior of the cell in Paraguay has now been destroyed.
Officials
carried out the raid only because they believed Brazilian drug boss
Jarvis Chimenes Pavao was planning to escape by using explosives to blow
a hole in the wall of the prison.
An investigation is under way to find who allowed the VIP suite to be built.
Pavao has now been moved far away from Tacumbu prison, near the capital Asuncion.
He has now been transferred to a special unit away from his luxury cell in Tacumbu prison.
An investigation is now under way to see which officials had allowed Pavao to set up his life of luxury.
Prisoners told authorities stay in the luxury unit was not cheap with an
upfront payment of almost £4,000 and a weekly ‘rent’ of £400.
