Heartbreaking footage shows Dana Majhi carrying his deceased wife through his home city of Bhubaneswar, in the Indian state of Odisha.
Mr Majhi's 42-year-old spouse died of tuberculosis at a hospital in Kalahandi on Tuesday night, according to NDTV .
But without a mode of transport - or any money - Mr Majhi and his grieving 12-year-old daughter were forced to walk 10km until an ambulance vehicle was finally organised to take the family the rest of the 60km journey.

"I kept requesting them but they said they could not help."
Mr Majhi wrapped his wife in several layers of cloth for the journey.
Kalikesh Singh Deo, a Member of Parliament of the state's ruling Biju Janata Dal, tweeted: " I have already asked the local minister to verify this and take appropriate action:"
Kalahandi District Collector Brunda D said: "As we got to know of the incident, we arranged for an ambulance.
