Muslim teacher called ISLAM ordered by Barman to take off hoodie with his name on...it's offending other customers

A Muslim teacher called Islam claims a barman 'ordered him to take off a hoodie with his name on - as it was offending other customers'.
Humiliated Nurul Islam, 32, claims he had arrived to meet fellow teachers at his local pub when the worker told him his top was upsetting others after last week's Nice terror attack .
Nurul - a father-of-three who is not a practising Muslim - says he refused and reported the incident to police who confirmed they are investigating it as a possible hate crime .
He said: "I was made to feel in my own country that I cannot even say my own name.
"My grandfather gave me that name. He fought in the Second World War against tyranny.
"I feel that this is making a mockery of that. As a grown man he should have done his research and not been so ignorant."
The alleged incident happened as Nurul, a technology teacher, went to the Coach and Horses pub near Hertford last Friday.
He is a GCSE year head at The Thomas Alleyne Academy in Stevenage and helps run the school's Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
He was meeting fellow teachers who had had eaten and had some drinks at the pub as they waited for pupils to finish the last leg of their expedition.
Nurul had just arrived and was preparing to sit down when he says the barman approached him.
He said he has seen the barman before and claims he knows he is a teacher.
Everyone taking part in the expedition have official Duke of Edinburgh Award hoodies with their names on the back.
Nurul explained: "I didn't really know what he was going on about to start with.
"When I realised what he meant I was really upset. I have been through a lot of racist abuse growing up as a child.
"I can deal with that ignorance but this was different. They are a service provider and for them to do that is really upsetting."
Shocked Nurul returned to his car still wearing his hoodie, leaving the other teachers to wait for the pupils.
He added: "When the police called the barman he said two black guys had got in a fight in the pub the night before.
"The officer asked him if three black guys came into his pub the next day would he ask them to leave and he replied of course not.
"He thinks it is OK to treat me like this because my name is Islam and I am a Muslim."
Miqdaad Versi of the Muslim Council of Britain said: "It's shocking and very worrying to see this growth in Islamophobia and bigotry.
"We need to really move beyond this, and the problem that we're facing is this type of attitude seems to be getting more prevalent in society and more socially acceptable."
Hertfordshire Police said: "A specialist hate crime officer is investigating to establish whether offences have been committed."
The pub declined to comment.
