AC Milan have finally confirmed the dismissal of head coach Filippo Inzaghi.
He was reported to have been dismissed on June 4, with former Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic already having announced himself as Inzaghi's successor, but the club have only now officially communicated the 41-year-old's exit.
A short statement on the club's official website read: "AC Milan announces that it has sacked first-team coach Filippo Inzaghi and thanks him for the work he has done."
Inzaghi, who starred for Milan as a striker between 2001 and 2012, replaced former teammate Clarence Seedorf as Rossoneri boss last year.
However,
he oversaw a disappointing campaign in which the club finished 10th in
Serie A -- their worst position in 17 years -- and he has now been
relieved of his duties.
