Miss World 2014: Miss South Africa 'Rolene Strauss' crowned Miss World

The winner of Miss World 2014 has been revealed. Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss was crowned onstage at the grand final of the beauty pageant which was held at the Excel London ICC Auditorium on Sunday, December 14.

Sporting a pale pink off-the-shoulder, cleavage-baring gown with styled in side swept curls, Rolene was sitting on a white chair while Miss World 2013 Megan Young put the blue-and-golden jeweled crown on her head.

Rolene was among 122 contestants who competed for the coveted title during the event. Miss India Koyal Rana and Miss England Carina Tyrrell were announced as the fifth and fourth runner-up respectively, while third runner-up was Miss Australia Courtney Thorpe and the second was Miss United States Elizabeth Safrit. Miss Hungary Edina Kulcsar was named the first runner-up.

Rolene said she dreamed of snagging the coveted Miss World crown since she was a little girl. When asked what she would change in the world, Rolene replied, "The fact that we as humans don't realize how much potential we have; to do good, give and make things right. How amazing would it be if we all realized our potential?"

During the event, several contestants took part in a group performance of Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up". After Rolene was crowned, the remaining contestants onstage danced to LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem", performed solo by member Sky Blu.
