What seem likely to be Fernando Torres' final days at Chelsea
have passed rather agonisingly, with there being little secret that the
club are desperate to move him on. They may get their wish soon: The Telegraph
says that discussions are well afoot with Torres' representatives about
how to get him to AC Milan, with Jose Mourinho and company preferring
to get him off their hands on a permanent deal rather than a loan. It's
looking complicated though, and so too is Chelsea's pursuit to Torres'
potential replacement, Roma striker Mattia Destro. Now that the
Italians have sold defender Mehdi Benatia to Bayern Munich for 24
million pounds, they consider themselves well placed for a game of
hardball. Alternatives apparently include Jackson Martinez and, intriguingly, Loic Remy.
