Spain lead FIFA rankings again

Spain lead FIFA rankings again

World champions Spain extended their tenure at the top the FIFA World Ranking after finishing at No. 1 for a 28thstraight month.

The top 25 remains unchanged after a lack of action, with Germany still second and Argentina third. The 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil sit in 10th place, with England just behind Greece in 13th.

The biggest movers were Egypt, who shot up 10 places to 31st in the world thanks to the devaluation of older matches in the four-year ranking cycle.

Only 18 games have taken place since the last list was released in December, none of which involved the world’s biggest football nations.

The February rankings could bring more movement as they will take into account this month’s CAF African Nations Championship, a continental tournament in which only players who ply their trade in their nation’s domestic league can participate.
