Malaysia Airlines: Crash site neglected as bodies decompose

Debris from Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 lay splayed for miles across silent rural fields in eastern Ukraine on Saturday. Two days after the jet crashed, some bodies remained strapped in seat belts -- wearing inflight headphones.

Conspicuously missing at the crash site near Torez were international forensic workers needed to secure and sort the wreckage, and a recovery crew to identify and remove with dignity the bodies of the 298 people who were on board MH17.

A few things have been moved. Luggage was stacked in piles; mementos, children's toys were handled. Most everything is unguarded, there for the curious -- or for the taking.

But the debris field hasn't changed much overall since it slammed into place from about 30,000 feet in the air. Not like it would change, if investigators had a chance to cordon it off and catalog it.

A round piece of wreckage the size of a small garage -- part of the cabin perhaps -- stood tilted over personal effects of people heading for vacation. Fields were bestrewn with novels, beach sandals, guide books and colorful carry-on bags.

And all around them were the bodies of their owners, some dressed in shorts and other vacation wear.

 

 

With leaders around the world calling for a swift, thorough and professional investigation, in eastern Ukraine, a small group of local government workers camping near the wreckage emerge from their tents in the mornings.

They split up the crash site territory in an orderly manner to look for bodies, said journalist Noah Sneider, who visited the site. The emergency workers mark spots where they find human remains with stakes and tie white rags around them.

There are so many of them. Bodies lie by the roadside, some in fields, some intertwined with parts of the aircraft. And they are spread out so far.

"Half of them are so mangled, you couldn't identify them," Sneider said.

Nobody knew where Kourtney was at that time. The picture was seemingly taken during the filming of "Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons" because Khloe and Kourtney are currently filming the show.

Scott and Khloe's older sister are currently expecting their third child together. Scott and Kourtney already have two kids together, 4-year-old Mason and 2-year-old Penelope.

Meanwhile, Khloe is currently having a relationship with French Montana. Previously for her 30th birthday, French gave Khloe a new Jeep and jewels worth of $30,000.

Transfer Talk: Drogba could return to blues, Di Maria to PSG

We're not sure if it would be of the sentimental variety or if this is just a second go round that's tantamount to a marriage of convenience. But one thing's for sure, the rumours surrounding a second bro-mance between Jose Mourinho and Didier Drogba aren't going away.
On the surface, Drogba's return makes sense. Chelsea is the side that the Ivory Coast national had his best success under the guidance of Mourinho the first time around. Plus, the lack of pop in the attack was a well-documented complaint from Mou all last Premier League season, though the arrival of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge should help plenty on that front.
Drogba, for his part, looked somewhat of his old self in Brazil -- physically dominant in the air and his touch seemed magic as an appearance off the bench versus Japan coincided with his team's two decisive goals. Drogba's contract with Galatasaray is expired, so needless to say we'll keep close tabs on this one.

Paris Saint-Germain might feel like they're holding damaged goods after high-priced transfer David Luiz looked shaky both on and off the pitch during the 2014 World Cup. But the possible arrival of Angel di Maria, rumoured to be moving to Paris on a five-year deal worth roughly 8 million euros per season. The Argentine national shone in Brazil before getting injured and missing the team's final two games -- the semis and the final versus Germany. The transfer cost to Real Madrid for Di Maria is reported to be 50 million euros.

Chris Brown Hosts Celebrity Charity Kickball Game

Chris Brown and Quincy Combs, stepson of P. Diddy, competed against each other for their Kick'n It For Charity Celebrity Kick Ball Game on July 19 at Los Angeles' Glendale Sports Complex, California. Breezy and Quincy each created a celebrity squad to go head-to-head and donated the benefits from the game to Best Buddies and Brown's Symphonic Love.

Chris' all-star team consisted of Kendall Jenner, Christina Milian, Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton, DJ Khaled and Jamie Foxx, who brought his daughter Annalise Bishop. Omarion, who was arrested on Friday after running a stop sign, was also in team Breezy. Quincy led his own celebrity squad which included Kylie Jenner, The Game, Amber Rose, Keke Palmer, and Ne-Yo.

Kendall and Kylie, who competed on opposite teams that day, opted for some fashionable footwear for the game. Kendall wore buckle strap ankle boots and Kylie wore thigh-high heeled boots.

Chris' team claimed victory in the match. Amber jokingly wrote on Instagram, "FYI Chris' team soooo cheated!!! ( I'm just mad cuz we lost) anyway it was for a good cause and we had a blast!"

Chris also took to Twitter afterward. He wrote, "Thx to all the beautiful fans who came out and supported me and @Quincy today! An amazing day and great kickball game. #givingback." Paris also tweeted, "Had a great time playing in @ChrisBrown & @Quincy's Charity #KickBall game tonight. Happy that our team won! #Killedit #TeamBreezy."

After the game, Chris treated fans to a performance of his new single "Loyal". The singer said, "We want to thank everybody for coming out here. We love y'all so much."

Brazil 2014 World Cup Trophy: As Germany damage the famous soccer prize

Germany's players damaged the World Cup trophy in the aftermath of their 1-0 win over Argentina at the Maracana last week, according to DFB president Wolfgang Niersbach.
Niersbach admitted that a piece of the famous prize "was chipped off" amid wild celebrations in Berlin as the team claimed their fourth World Cup success following wins in 1954, 1974 and 1990.
Die Nationalmannschaft were welcomed home to jubilant scenes in the capital, but the celebrations got a little out of control.
"At one point, a small piece of our World Cup trophy was chipped off," Niersbach told Die Welt. "But do not worry! We have specialists on the case who can fix it. We have investigated persistently who it was that damaged the trophy, but the investigation was concluded without a result."
The trophy is estimated to be worth over 10 million euros, but the one that was damaged was just a replica given to the team by FIFA.

Child endangerment charges: As David Beckham was confronted by a Paparazzo for Leaving his son 'Crus' One Hour in Car

David Beckham was confronted by a paparazzo on Thursday, July 17, for leaving his 9-year-old son Cruz in the car when he was taking an exercise class in Los Angeles. Beckham reportedly left his son in the front passenger seat for over an hour.

When he returned, a paparazzo accused Becks of leaving his son "unattended," shouting, "Is that a good idea to leave the kids in the car like that?" "The car's on," Beckham replied, "The air conditioning's on."

A photographer on the scene told X17online, "No one could believe what Beckham was doing. Some guys even stopped taking pictures and were just standing there, shocked." It was 87 degrees in Los Angeles on Thursday and the paparazzi outside the car reported they saw no adult supervising the kid.

The photographer added, "David was the only man in the class, so of course all the ladies showed up during his time slot. No one seemed to mention the fact that his kids were sitting in the car out front, and one of them even defended David when we asked about it!"

Beckham denied the accusation that he left his child alone. A representative for the soccer star told ET, "It is complete lunacy to insinuate David would leave his kids in the car like that. There was a nanny and air conditioning." The rep continued, "You have to be very wary of paparazzi making these assertions to create a story when there isn't one."

Legal experts commented that the matter could still be investigated further, along with the alleged photographic evidence. "David could shortly find himself in court facing child endangerment charges," trial attorney Davie Wohl explained, "Even though he left the car's air conditioning on, the kids could have suffered carbon monoxide poisoning or, if one of them managed to get the car in gear, they could have been seriously injured."

Fabregas never wanted to rejoin Arsenal- Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas did not want to rejoin Arsenal before he made his move from Barcelona to Stamford Bridge last month.
Reports have suggested that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger opted not to take up the option to re-sign his former captain Fabregas when he was made available by the Catalan club. But Mourinho offered up a different version of events on one of the big transfers of the summer.
"I spoke with him for 20 minutes," said Mourinho of Fabregas while speaking at a BT Sport event in London. "I think he really wanted to come to us.
"As you know, Arsenal had an option to interfere, but I think he was not open for that. I think he was very much in our direction, so it was an easy job for me."
Meanwhile, Mourinho has suggested Chelsea's transfer business for this summer's window concluded when they sealed the deal to sign Brazilian full-back Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid on Friday.
"I have to say my club did a fantastic job, and not just because of what we brought, but because we did it in almost record time," he added, as Luis joined Fabregas and Diego Costa as the Blues' three summer captures.
"The transfer market closes August 31, and we close our market on July 19. We finished the market today. The club did fantastic. We knew the targets, we knew the players and the club attacked them and their clubs at a very early stage."
Mourinho went on to suggest the upcoming Premier League title race is shaping up to be the most open in memory, as he claims five teams will battle it out for the big prize.
"Why I like the Premier League so much is that, at this moment, nobody knows who is going to win the title," he added. "I know that we want to and I know that we can, but it is the kind of competition where I can't say.
"At this moment, I think between us, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United, Man City -- who is going to be first, who is going to play in the Europa League, I don't know.
"There were good teams last season, and there will be better teams this season because everyone is investing. If you make a team to be champions, then you have a big chance to finish in the top four."

Jeezy made the revelation, telling MTV that his collaborator said he shed tears as he wrote lines based on his past as a drug dealer.

Tranfer News: As Chelsea complete Filipe Luis signing

Chelsea have completed the signing of left-back Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid.
The Blues announced they had reached an agreement for the defender on Wednesday and they have now tied up the transfer.
The Brazil international, 28, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, after Jose Mourinho sought to replace Ashley Cole, who has left for Roma on a free transfer.
Luis told Chelsea's official website: "This move is a dream come true for me. I now have the opportunity to play for Chelsea, and also in the Premier League.
"I'm very happy and looking forward to getting started and giving my best for the team during the coming seasons."
Luis joined Atletico from Deportivo La Coruna in 2010 and went on to enjoy impressive success with the club, lifting the Liga title last season.
He also won the Europa League with Atletico in 2012, setting up a UEFA Super Cup meeting with Chelsea, which saw the Spanish side triumph 4-1.
Luis helped his nation win the Confederations Cup in 2013 but he was not named in the 23-man squad for this summer's World Cup.
He will join former Atletico teammate Diego Costa at Chelsea, who have also recalled Thibaut Courtois from loan at the Vicente Calderon.

Number of Best AIDS Researchers in the World Died on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17

Numerous AIDS researchers, health workers and activists were onboard the Malaysia Airlines flight that was shot down over Ukraine. They were on their way to the 20th International AIDS Conference in Melbourne, Australia, which starts on Sunday.

Among those passengers was Joep Lange, who had worked on HIV research since 1983. He was a professor of medicine at the University of Amsterdam, where he also served as the head of the global health department. His partner Jacqueline was also killed in the crash.

Lange was a driving force behind numerous antiretroviral therapy trials, including important work with mother-to-child transmission of HIV. He advocated for making medications available in the developing world, and was president of the International AIDS Society from 2002 to 2004.
Lange was also one of many researchers responsible for a major innovation in AIDS research: the development of the HIV antigen test, an early attempt at measuring the amount of virus in the human bloodstream. "Lange started his career examining how best to measure, and therefore predict, disease progression and response to treatment," writes Ken Sepkowitz. "Within a decade, his approach led to the routine measurement of the HIV 'viral load,' a test performed as routinely as a cholesterol HDL to both diagnose infection and monitor treatment response."

The reaction in Lange’s field was swift. One American HIV researcher told Vox that Lange was a visionary amongst HIV researchers ... He was acutely aware of the multiple dimensions of HIV spanning science to society and had a heart of gold. This is a huge loss for the field.”

Others took to Twitter with their condolences.

Glenn Thomas, a spokesman for the World Health Organization and a former journalist, was also among the victims. "His twin sister says he died doing what he loved,” a WHO statement said.

Martine de Schutter, another Stop AIDS Now! member, was also believed to have been on the plane. “It is incomprehensible that they’re no longer here,” Stop AIDS Now! Executive Director Louise van Deth told the Washington Post. “It is a heavy blow that people who have been so active for so long in the fight against AIDS have been wiped out.”

While original reports put the number of lost conference delegates on Flight MH17 at 108, nearly a third of the plane’s passengers, conference organizers have only confirmed seven deaths.

Seven is still too many, of course, and the loss of life is staggering no matter where passengers were going. 

The conference will continue, organizers said, "in recognition of our colleagues' dedication to the fight against HIV/AIDS." Family and friends of other victims will continue to mourn in their own ways.

Louis Van Gaal yet to decide United Captain

Louis van Gaal insisted he will take his time before naming his captain at Manchester United and promised to give all the players he inherited a chance to prove their worth to him in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the media for the first time as United boss, Van Gaal confirmed that Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw, the club's first two summer signings, were already on the United wanted list before he accepted the challenge of taking over as manager.

The former Netherlands manager appears determined to allow the rest of the squad time to prove they can embrace his ideas he will bring to the job before making any additions to his lineup.

"First I want to see the players performing to my philosophy," he said when asked about the possibility of fresh signings. "The owners and the CEO have a lot of confidence in me and because of that, they have come to me.

"I explained my philosophy and they were excited. We have to wait and see if I can fulfill the expectations of these people and also the fans. When you see my career, you can see what I have won. The future shall show if I can do that again."

Van Gaal turned in a typically polished performance in front of a packed news conference, as he was asked whether he had come to any conclusions on who would replace the departed Nemanja Vidic as United captain.

"All the players are a possible candidate," he said when pondering who would claim the United armband. "I have to get to know them. I use four or five or six weeks. For me, the captain's role is very important and therefore I need time.

"Sometimes I didn't have the time and then you make quick decisions, but quick decisions are not always good, so I use my time."

Van Gaal was then asked what excited him about the task he was taking on as United boss and  seemed to struggle to sum up what the United job meant to him.

"It's difficult to describe," he added. "I am now two days here. I have met a lot of people. When you see the kind of people who are loving the club, it is a big family. They expect a lot of me, they are very excited to meet me.

"Can I fulfill that expectation? I think I can do, but because of the greatness of this club, it is much more difficult than at another club.

"This club is also guided in a commercial way and we have to fulfill that also. That is not always possible to fulfill the commercial expectations and the football expectations. That is my big challenge, I think."

Arsenal have signed Mathieu Debuchy of Newcastle United

Debuchy, 28, arrives at Emirates Stadium as a direct replacement for Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City on a free transfer last month. 

The right-back is believed to have cost the Gunners around 12 million pounds and he becomes the club's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona last week. 

Debuchy, who played for France at the recent World Cup in Brazil, impressed in his 18 months at Newcastle after signing from Lille last January. 

He told Arsenal's official website: "I'm very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it's one of the biggest clubs in the whole world.

"I'm looking forward to working with Arsene Wenger and to helping the team build on last season's FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.''

Manager Wenger added: "We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal Football Club. He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France.

"He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I'm confident he will fit in very well with us."

Debuchy will wear the No. 2 shirt for the Gunners, whose new season starts on Aug. 9 against Man City in the Community Shield before a Premier League opener vs. Crystal Palace a week later.

The Crashed Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17A: The Final Facebook Post of One of the Passengers On Board

A Dutch man who appears to have been a passenger on the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight on Thursday posted a photo of the plane with an eerie message before boarding the ill-fated Boeing 777.

Translated from Dutch to English, the caption reads: “In case it goes missing, here is what it looks like.”

Over 150 people have since commented on the Facebook post, which surfaced on Reddit. Many offer condolences.

The loss of MH-17 is the second disaster for Malaysia Airlines this year, following the mysterious loss of flight MH-370 in March, which disappeared with 239 passengers and crew on board on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-17 also still remains a mystery. 

Locals on the ground in Ukraine said they heard two loud bangs before seeing flaming wreckage fall from the sky. A U.S. official has confirmed that the plane was shot down by at least one surface-to-air missile. Vice President Joe Biden said: "Not an accident. Blown out of the sky." It remains unclear where or by who the missile was fired. 

The dead total 298 people, a number scaled up to account for three infants not on the original flight records. 

At least 154 people on the flight were Dutch. In Amsterdam, an audible gasp went up at the news conference Thursday night at Schiphol airport when it was announced that so many of the dead were from the Netherlands.

There were 27 Australians on board, 23 Malaysians, including all 15 crew, and 11 Indonesians. Six passengers from the United Kingdom, four from Germany, four Belgians, three from the Philippines and one Canadian. There are still 47 dead whose nationalities haven't yet been confirmed — some of which may be Americans. A large group of the passengers  were heading to Melbourne for a major AIDS conference, reports say.

News: A Malaysian Airliner With 295 Passengers crashed near Russia/Ukrainian Border

A Malaysian Boeing 777 airliner with 295 passengers on board has crashed into  the border between Russia and Ukraine. Several reports indicated that the aircraft which was flying from Amsterdam’s Schipol airport to Kuala Lumpur was shot down by Russian forces.
There are no independent confirmation of the allegations.
The crash comes just months after Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared in March.

Ozil donate his world cup bonus to sick Brazil Children

Mesut Özil, the midfielder for Germany's World Cup-winning team, just set an example that all stars need to see.

After Germany won the final, each player received a bonus of more than $400,000. (Spain, for instance, had proposed a $980,000 winning bonus, to great outcry.) Instead of keeping his portion, however, Özil donated it all to support the surgeries of sick Brazilian children. 

Prior to the World Cup he gave money to support 11 children, but he just upped the number to 23 to mark the number of players on Germany's team. Though there were reports that Özil had also donated his winnings to the children of Gaza, his representative later said this wasn't true.

His initiative is in partnership with Big Shoe, a German charity that uses FIFA as a platform to aid sick children. "This is my personal thank-you for the hospitality of the people of Brazil," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Big Shoe, for which Özil is an ambassador, has been working with the World Cup since 2006, with no plans to stop.

A German designers create life-like body parts from silicone

At first glance, these pictures appear to show a normal hand.
But a closer inspection reveals a clever prosthetic in the place of the thumb.
The silicone digit is the work of a German company, who specialise in individually-tailored prosthetics to meet the unique needs of people who lose fingers, hands, toes, feet or legs.

The work is the brainchild of designers Alex Stamos and Christoph Braun, of Stamos and Braun Prosthesenwerk.

Mr Braun said the ethos behind their designs is creating silicone prosthetic works of art.
He said his partner started working with silicone 14 years ago, while he joined five years ago.
Mr Braun, who has 18 years experience creating traditional prosthetics, told MailOnline: 'Individuality comes first. For every person and his or her needs are unique, and so are the restorations.
'Here each restoration is a small work of art.
'Alex does more of the individual silicone work while I build the prosthetic under the glove.

'We started our own business six months ago in Dresden, Germany with our special image and special prosthetics.
'We thought we need to make something special. We like to show people that a prosthetic doesn't need to look old and ugly.
'We like to give a good feeling to the patients. It is bad enough that they have lost something.
'So if we are able to make them happy with something cool, it feels good to everybody.'

He said each prosthetic is individually designed and tailored to ensure the right skin colour is match and the prosthetic is as comfortable as possible.
As a result the time it takes to create each prosthetic varies, case by case.
'If we only have a little thumb we can make it in one to two days,' he told MailOnline.
'But if we make an individual silicone cover for the whole arm or leg it will take us up to one week.
'And it also depends on the stump situation, sensitivity, the healing process and the wishes of the patient.'
He said it is the finer details that make the difference, with finger and toenails crafted from acrylic, the same material used in beauty salons create fake nail extensions.

After a slew of offseason moves, the pressure is on Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to deliver a title in 2014-15.
Given Roman Abramovich's historical impatience and the fact he has already granted Mourinho a season's grace without a trophy, the logical answer would suggest he would be relieved of his duties. Whether he should, though, will reside in the context of any perceived failure.
Should Chelsea experience the type of season that Manchester United did last campaign, then there is absolutely no chance of him being retained. Regression or even a lack of progression would be a huge concern and it would suggest that his magic had waned, at least in regard to Chelsea. However, were Mourinho to be pipped to the title by a narrow margin while claiming some silverware in the process then he will have earned another shot at it as long as the football on display was sufficiently entertaining. Plus, if he manages to win the Champions League, any failings domestically would be rendered virtually obsolete.
