Friends remember Prince at Private funeral in Minnesota

Prince's family and friends gathered to remember the late singer at a private memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Sunday, May 15. The church was filled with hundreds of people including famous faces like Sly and the Family Stone's bassist Larry Graham and comedian Sinbad.

According to one of the attendees, Richard Weiner, the service was beautiful. "They talked about his faith, how he became a Jehovah's Witness, and his actions after that were to glorify God in words and deeds," he said. The church reportedly hired extra security to direct traffic with the help of Minnetonka police.

The memorial program included the "Purpler Rain" singer's lyrics from his song "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed". "If I were to ever write down my life story, I could truly say with all the fame and glory, I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter's hand," so read part of the lyrics.

"Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7, 1958. As a musician his accomplishments speak for themselves and offer undeniable testimony to his artistry and talent," so read the program. "However, he also had a deep interest in spiritual things. In 1996, he began to study the Bible and enjoy warm friendship with Jehovah's Witnesses. Then, on March 28, 2003, after seven years of Bible study, he symbolized his personal dedication to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
