Winning Champions League a 'dream' win- Gareth Bale

Winning Champions League a 'dream' win- Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale admits winning the Champions League with Real Madrid will live with him forever as his goal helped down Atletico Madrid 4-1 in the final.
After Sergio Ramos had finally broken Atletico's resistance to cancel out Diego Godin's first-half effort with a 93rd-minute equaliser, Bale gave Real the lead with a close-range header in extra time.
Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo then put the gloss on Real's 10th European Cup win with late goals.
"It is what every footballer dreams of and it doesn't come bigger in club football," Bale is quoted by the BBC.
"The celebration of the crowd meant everything to me, but the most important thing is we worked hard as a team and won the trophy and the 10th title for the club."
Bale joined Real in a world record 86 million-pound move from Tottenham last summer, but said his price tag doesn't matter.
"I would have come here for a penny if it meant I could win the big titles," Bale added.
It could have all been different for Bale and Real, after he spurned three good chances to score before heading in his side's vital second goal at the Estadio da Luz.
"I have learned from past experiences to keep going, forget the chances you have missed and to keep persevering and a chance will come," he said.

"It was a close game, especially in normal time. We have played Atletico Madrid four times this season and every game has been close.
"They make it very difficult when they get a goal ahead and it's hard to break them down."
