The upcoming fifth installment of "Ice Age" animation franchise has booked a release date. Fox announces that Manny the Mammoth and his unlikely minions will be back for a new adventure in "Ice Age 5" on July 15, 2016.
The summer 2016 date was originally occupied by "Anubis", another Fox animated film. The movie loosely based on Bruce Zick's novel about a mummy's curse that led to a trip to the Egyptian underworld is now slated for March 23, 2018.
The last "Ice Age" movie, "Ice Age: Continental Drift", was released in 2012. It garnered $874.9 million worldwide, including an impressive $714 million in domestic box office.
Details of the next installment are still scarce, but most of the main voice cast that include Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid, the ground Sloth) and Denis Leary (Diego the Tiger) are expected to return.
